Youtube at this current moment is one of the biggest social network sites on the web. As Geert Lovink has stated in his introduction speech for Video Vortex in Brussels, YouTube can been seen as a metaphor or rather a reference to a much larger social shift happening on the web the last few years. Looking at YouTube as social software, what could can be said about the design of the website that might indicate to be facilitating or encouraging the social use of the website and its object, the video? Looking at the changes and updates of the website over time can give insight into the process YouTube has undergone to becoming such an important application on the web.
