Social networking sites such as Myspace, Facebook and Hyves in the Netherlands have stirred anxiety about the public display of the informal. Researchers of social software have concentrated on what especially a non-member -- a mother, a prospective boss or a teacher -- can see about a person. Here the research concerns how Hyves cleans the space for acceptable looking content of all its members. The list of Hyves members’ top brands, according to Hyves, is compared to a list of all brands filled in by Hyves users. In the research protocol all brands were scraped by brand_id (with 103,239 distinct brands). We found that the majority of users are single-fan brands & ‘no logo’ Hyvers (59,105).
