RQ1: What hashtags are co-occuring in the #gezi movement? (i.e. additional movements, news stories, linking to other platforms, etc.)
RQ2: How are protest hashtags related to Gezi Park used to disseminate information via hyperlink? (looking at content of the hyperlink: textual/audio/video material, related to social information, related to news information)
RQ3: How is the information disseminated via hyperlink different across hashtag clusters?
-----
Research Methodology: TCAT (associational profiling; URL extraction); tools related to the analysis of URLs (i.e. Issue Discovery and TLD counts); Gephi - use with keyword Gezi tweets collected between June 7th and June 9th.
Expected Outcome: We expect to find clusters of related movements within the hashtags. We are expecting that use of different hashtags will result in different hyperlink content, i.e. #occupygezi may link to more international news sources, while #direngeziparki may link to more images in Taksim Square. We plan to extend this research beyond these preliminary research questions - following these hashtags on other platforms and related to other protest movements.
Hashtag Co-occurence Notes:
CSV file of hashtags co-occurring within data set, imported in Gephi. Weight of edges larger than 1 are retained in set for further analysis. For visualization we filtered out self-loops, resulting in 4,162 nodes and 5,629 edges.
